The Bench Constituted of Chief Justice of India SA Bobde, AS Bopanna, and Hrishikesh Roy. They stated on hearing the PIL that child trafficking still continues to rise, mostly because of the market which employs child labour at a cheap cost. Child trafficking for prostitution is also done.
The court asked The Solicitor General Tushar Meheta to look into this issue and give notable suggestions. Court also stated that a committee of eminent personalities should be created to look into this, but this hasn’t been fixed yet.
As stated in the Petition:
“Child trafficking is a highly organized crime worldwide. Unscrupulous traffickers, procurers and brokers take advantage of the innocence and vulnerability of marginalised sections and traffic their children”.
The PIL urged the Court to fix the regulations as this menace may rise more during the pandemic period.
The petition stated that children needs to be protected at all times and no matter how gigantic the task may seem to be it’s a highly sensitive issue and should be done as fast as possible.
