Punjab and Haryana HC impose Rs 10,000 costs on a couple for not wearing masks during their wedding amid COVID-19 Lockdown.

The matter has been taken up by the Justice Hari Pal Verma.
The proceeding was heard through video conference due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
While hearing a plea of a Gurdaspur-based couple who had their marriage solemnized during COVID-19.
The couple had moved to the court to seek protection against certain private individuals who crooked the marriage, a representation was made under Article 226 of the Constitution Of India seeking protection under life and liberty.
In turn, Justice Hari Pal Verma directed the police to take appropriate remedial measures in accordance with the plea made by the couple.
However, the Judge also establishes that the couple and the attendees were not wearing masks during the ceremony of the wedding amid the Covid-19.
They were ambush while submitting the photographs of the marriage to the court to substain the validity of the marriage.
In response to that, the judge proceeded to impose Rs 10,000 as cost on the couple for the safety lapse. And to be given within 15 days from the order.
Justice Verma further said that “the money deposited will be used for the purpose of arranging the masks for the public at large within the District Of Hoshiarpur.”
