‘No refund announced due to Covid-19’ tweets Income Tax Department and alerts about phishing attempts.

The Income Tax Department urged to the taxpayers in its recent tweet to not to click on any fake link which promises to grant the refund back.

It mentioned in detail how the phishing attempts are usually made. One receives an SMS saying that ‘in order to provide financial ease during lockdown, the government has decided to provide tax refund to all the taxpayers’. The message carries a web link.

The tweet read that not to click on such fake links as they are not backed up by the Tax Department and are just a phishing attempt and a part of fraudulent activities.
